Ethan Lockhart is a convicted felon serving time in a Nevada prison for armed robbery. He is granted a 48-hour furlough to attend the funeral of his beloved sister Abby. Upon his release, he is brought directly to the office of “Shark”, his former boss, owner of the strip club he had worked at and where Abby became a dancer/stripper after his incarceration. He learns that in the five years he has been in prison, Shark has expanded his illegal operations significantly and now has employees whose job it is to torture and murder those who get in his way. While told by his caseworker to avoid getting into any trouble and the urgency of being back within the allotted time, Ethan’s sole mission becomes finding out who is responsible for his sister’s murder. And time is not on his side.
Author Andrew Bourelle has written a suspenseful, tense thriller with non-stop action. He skillfully captures the gritty, seedy world of Shark and his cohorts. 48 Hours to Kill is a heart-pounding story loaded with violence while demonstrating the love Ethan has for his sister. I couldn’t put it down.
