Mercy is the fourth book in David Baldacci’s Atlee Pine Series. As with most series, it would be highly advisable to start from the beginning but it isn’t essential as a great deal of the backstory is provided and you can catch up pretty quickly.
FBI Special Agent Atlee’s twin sister Mercy was abducted from the family when they were six years old. Atlee continues her tireless search in this latest installment. Finally the pieces of the puzzle come together and we learn what really happened to Mercy. And the story is heartbreaking. But will Atlee find Mercy still alive? And it turns out someone else is looking for Mercy as well – a very evil person with his own agenda for revenge.
Author David Baldacci is a great storyteller. The character of Atlee Pine is one that I have enjoyed as she is smart and tough. Her assistant Carol Blum is also a wonderful character – nice to see an intelligent, vibrant woman who is 60+ in this role. The series is thoroughly enjoyable. Pure escapism jam-packed with lots of action. A nice change of pace if you tend to read more literary works.
Rated 4.25 out of 5 stars.
