The Edge - The 6:20 Man returns in this suspenseful thriller by David Baldacci.

Former Army Ranger Travis Devine is now working with Homeland Security. He is sent to Putnam, Maine to find out who murdered CIA operative Jenny Silkwell.

Jenny, the daughter of a former U.S. senator, was estranged from her family, making her recent visit to her hometown puzzling to Devine. With her phone and computer missing, time is of the essence. While conducting his investigation, Devine has to work with the local sheriff, who is not very happy to have this outsider appear in his small community. And Devine senses that Jenny's siblings and the residents of Putnam are not being honest with him and are trying to keep some town secrets buried. The case gets more complicated when it appears that more crimes need to be solved first to get to the bottom of what happened to Jenny. As Devine starts getting closer, he hopes he'll live long enough to get the job done.

Author David Baldacci is one of the most popular authors in the genre of mystery thrillers because he knows how to write strong page turners. Having enjoyed The 6:20 Man, the first book in this series, I was happy that we hadn't heard the last of Travis Devine. He's a great character - tough, smart, damaged, and sensitive. I enjoyed The Edge even more than the first book, which is still worth reading. You can read this latest one as a standalone. It's action-packed, fast-paced, and has a good plot. Exactly what we expect from Baldacci.

Rated 4.25 out of 5 stars.
