The Maid's Secret - the third installment of the enjoyable Molly the Maid series.

Fans of this series have come to love Molly Gray. She has been promoted to head maid and manager of special events at the luxurious Regency Grand Hotel and is engaged to Juan Manuel, the pastry chef. Despite mourning the loss of her beloved "gran," things are looking up for Molly. The hotel is preparing for the filming of a TV show similar to Antiques Roadshow. The staff is encouraged to bring items for appraisal by the celebrity hosts of Hidden Treasures, Brown and Beagle. Among the items Molly brings could transform her life from rags to riches. A decorative egg she thought was worthless turns out to be a Fabergé prototype. This discovery leads to a crime caper and a threat to Molly's life. The discovery of gran's diary reveals even more surprises. While her grandmother was also a maid, Molly was unaware of her wealthy background. The diary uncovers gran's history and the secret of the Fabergé egg.

Although the mysteries I usually read are not the cozy whodunit type, I have thoroughly enjoyed Nita Prose's Molly the Maid series. The third book, The Maid's Secret, was delightful. It can be read as a standalone, but it makes sense to start from the beginning*. Discovering gran's story added significant depth to the book. As a collector, I found the discovery of Molly's treasure particularly appealing. The main attraction remains Molly, an endearing woman with a unique worldview. Fans of the series have celebrated her achievements as she has overcome being an outsider. I hope the previously announced movie adaptation becomes a reality.
