The Quiet Librarian - a woman's past comes back to haunt her years after fleeing Bosnia.

Hana Babic, a librarian, leads a simple life on a farm in Minnesota. Dressed in plain, loose-fitting clothing, Hana seeks to fade into the background and remain unnoticed. After learning that her best friend Amina has been murdered, Hana realizes that her past has caught up with her and she is no longer safe. Hana's true identity is Nura Divjak, who grew up with her parents and younger brother on a mountaintop in the former Yugoslavia. Shifting back to 1992, Bosnia is engulfed in war. Serbian soldiers invade Nura's home, brutally killing her family. Nura's sole mission in life is to avenge their deaths. Thirty years later, Hana must become a warrior once again.

Allen Esken's The Quiet Librarian is a powerful, gut-wrenching book. The depictions of the events in Bosnia were heartbreaking. Hana is an unforgettable character who experienced immeasurable loss. Her story is one of strength, resiliency, and love.
