Worst Case Scenario: buckle-up for this heart-stopping race against time.

En route from Minneapolis to Seattle, a large aircraft carrying nearly 300 passengers crashes in Waketa, Minnesota after the pilot suffers a heart attack.  The plane causes damage along the way until it plunges into a nuclear power plant. Waketa's Fire Chief Steve Tostig rushes to the scene. Still grieving over the loss of his wife and raising a young son, he is prepared to do whatever is needed. Jocelyn (Joss) Vance, who leads the area's Nuclear Emergency Support Team, has to assess the damage to the plant and figure out how to avoid a meltdown. It's a race against time.

Following her successful and entertaining books Falling and Drowning, author T.J. Newman continues with the theme of airline disasters in Worst Case Scenario. This time, the action is on the ground as the ill-fated plane crashes early on. The characters are not the passengers but the courageous townspeople of Waketa, Minnesota working under a small window of time to prevent a potential nuclear catastrophe, which would devastate the country. I was kept on the edge of my seat. In addition to its fast-paced, movie-like action, there were moments that tugged at the heartstrings. With Newman's first two books already in development for film adaptations, you can bet we'll see this book, her most complex to date, make its way to the big screen. I can't wait.

Many thanks to Little, Brown and Company and Novel Suspects Insiders for the opportunity to read this thrilling and moving book in advance of its release.
